👉 Pool Access Update: Open Only During Volunteer Hours

Pool Gate Update

As many of you know, our community’s pool gate security system was severely damaged by a lightning strike. The system requires specialized repair, which comes at a significant cost. The Board approved this expense at the very next meeting, and management promptly hired the repair company. All the necessary parts identified during the initial service call have been ordered and have now arrived. Unfortunately, due to the company’s staffing schedule, the two-person crew needed for the repair is not yet available. We have been placed on their schedule for October 1, but this does not mean the repair will necessarily be completed that day—it simply secures our place in line once their team is available.

In the meantime, our pool gate must legally remain secured at all times. We are not permitted by law to leave it unlocked. To keep the pool available as much as possible, the Board and management began recruiting resident volunteers to help man the gate. Thanks to these generous neighbors, the pool has been open for many hours that otherwise would have been lost. However, please note that the pool is only open during the shifts when volunteers are scheduled, which means there may be times the pool is closed even during its normal operating hours. We are deeply grateful for the time, energy, and goodwill of those who have stepped forward.

Unfortunately, a few residents have made this more difficult. Volunteers following proper procedures faced hostility when informing residents that the pool had to close once no further volunteers were available. The Board and management were forced to intervene and ultimately involve law enforcement to de-escalate the situation. This behavior is unacceptable and deeply disappointing. Incidents like this may affect our ability to continue operating the pool under this temporary system.

We want to be clear: without volunteers, the pool would remain closed until repairs are complete. Every hour the pool has been open since the lightning strike has been thanks to fellow residents stepping up to cover a shift. If you see a volunteer at the gate, please thank them for giving their time to keep this amenity available. If you have availability, we encourage you to sign up for one of the many open shifts.

Together, we can keep the pool open and safe until the gate system is repaired.
